Meet Jose

Jose Rojas has a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Journalism from La Universidad de Zulia in Venezuela. He worked in several local TV stations as a News Reporter and currently is anchoring the news segment of a local Spanish language news magazine in Boston. Jose served as Academic Director of Cieni, an international Center for Language Learning in Venezuela for 7 years. He also holds a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture from Universidad de Granada Spain.

 

Jose teaches Spanish at the high school level. Jose has been in the Real Estate Industry since 2004. In 2005 he got his first Diamond Award from Century 21. Jose is bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English. Vast experience in Short Sales. Jose Rojas has closed more than 50 twenty real transactions in the last two years.

1.  What drew you to the real estate industry? I moved from Venezuela to this country in June 2001. After a being a public TV news figure, in my homeland, I was looking for a career that would allow me to keep practicing public relations educating people about their investment and securing family future. That drew me to the idea of working in real estate. When I started my real estate career, I saw it as a way to connect with people and be part of one of the major milestones of their life.
   
   
2. Where did you grow up and where do you live now? I grew up in a small oil town on the shores of Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. It was a small oil town called Tasejeras.  surrounded by oil fields, and the natural gas smell was all around. The closest city was Maracaibo, more than an hour away. We moved to Stoughton, MA in 2002 and have been here ever since.
   
   
3. Name one celebrity, dead or alive, who you would like to sell a home? I would love to sell a home to Ricky Martin because he’s the most prominent Hispanic figure of my generation who grew up in similar environment as I did.
   
   
4. Name 5 things that most people don’t know about you.
   I love Jazz and Classical Music
   I was a TV news reporter in the 90s in Venezuela.
   My hobby is photography
   I don’t play soccer. (Most people think I am a soccer player)
   I interviewed Hugo Chavez when he was a candidate for President of Venezuela in 1997

7. What is the best advice you received from your parents or loved ones? Always be yourself not what everyone else wants you to be.
   
   
8. If you weren’t in real estate, what would be your dream job? Musician or a photojournalist. 
   
   
9. What are your favorite local activities that you participate in? Enjoying the local craft beers.
